Airports
Hua Hin Airport. A number of years ago, Bangkok Airways operated the route Bangkok—Hua Hin—Koh Samui. Today, the only passenger traffic from the Hua Hin airport are the regular flights to and from Bangkok is operated by SGA Airlines (see further below under Transport to/from Bangkok). Other than that, the airport is chiefly used for educational purposes. The airport can be reached on +66-(0)32-520 181 to 2.
Bangkok Airport. Even if Bangkok now has two airports, only the new one, Suvarnabhumi, operates international traffic since 28 September 2006. The old airport, Don Muang, is now only operating some domestic flights, mainly of THAI. Bangkok’s International Airport has a call center open Monday through Friday between 8.00 am and 5.00 pm with telephone number +66-(0)2-132 1888, alternatively +66-(0)2-535 1277. Transport to/from Bangkok
Airflights Bangkok—Hua Hin. Regular flights between Hua Hin and Bangkok are operated daily by SGA Airlines (in alliance with the THAI Group through Nok Air). The flights, which last some 50 minutes, arrive at Bangkok’s new international airport, Suvarnabhumi. Departure times from Hua Hin are 12.30 pm, 3.30 pm and 6.30 pm, whereas departure times from Bangkok are 10.45 am, 2.15 pm and 5.15 pm. The price for singles tickets is currently 2,950 baht, but varies any further decreases in the oil price. Tickets can be booked online at www.sga.aero, or through SGA Call Center located on the first floor at the Hua Hin aiport, phone number +66-(0)32-522 300, as well as on the forth floor of the domestic terminal at Suvarnabhumi, phone number +66-(0)2-664 6099. Office hours are 8.30 am to 5.30 pm. Pick-up to the Hua Hin airport can also be ordered through these channels.
Mini-van. A both convenient and inexpensive way of traveling from Hua Hin to Bangkok is by catching one of those mini-vans that leaves every 20 minutes from Hua Hin’s old cinema, opposite Tesco Lotus Express/Esso gasoline station on the main street, Petchkasem Road. For 180 baht (subject to any surcharge for rising oil prices) the 2.5—3.0-hour journey will take you to Victory Monument in central Bangkok, where handy and easy access to the SkyTrain network is available.
Air-conditioned Buss. Departures daily every 40 minutes from Hua Hin in front of Siripetchkasem Hotel, Srasrong Road (close to the Night Market), and costs 140 baht. The journey takes about 3.5 hours and starts departing at 3.00 in the morning until 9.00 pm in the evening. The busses terminate at the Southern Bus Terminal (“Sai Tai Mai”), which is situated quite far from the city center implying that taxi is that main way of getting further. Train
The trains from Hua Hin to Bangkok departure between 1.10 pm and 4.38 pm, whereas the trains from Bangkok to Hua Hin departure between 7.45 am and 10.50 pm. Transport Southwards
Air-conditioned VIP Bus Towards South. Departures evening time between 9.00 pm and 11.00 pm, depending on where you wish to go. The busses can be caught in front of Bank of Ayduhya, opposite the Municipality House.
Bus and Speedboat to Kho Tao, Koh Phangan and Koh Samui. With Lomprayah High Speed Ferry, you can reserve VIP busses and boat trips to Kho Tao, Koh Phangan and Koh Samui.
