Thai Food

The most exciting feature about Thai restaurants is that they basically can be found anywhere. A Thai restaurant does not necessarily need to have certain premises with walls and a roof. Instead, a cart (often connected to a motorbike), a couple of (plastic) chairs and a (metal) table do just fine as a place to dine. This is the reason why it can be so incredibly inexpensive to eat on the streets in Thailand. A rice or noodle dish can be purchased at as little as 20 baht (60 US cents). If the same kind of dish is to be ordered in premises with wooden tables and wooden chairs, it can cost up to many times more. However, the message is not that the prices in such a Thai restaurant is unjustified, but rather that it can be a good idea to try out one of all the small cart” restaurants that you pass during your walks in Hua Hin.

iHuaHin.com recommends:

  • Siam — located in the city centre on Poolsuk Road opposite the car park at the Hua Hin temple. Siam’s menu includes a wide variety of Thai food as well as European dishes, of which the great supply of baguettes stands out. The prices are average — the quality and the service impressive.

  • Baan Koravick — is situated north of the Clock Tower on Naebkhehart Road. Despite providing walls, roof as well as A/C, the prices are very reasonable given the high quality of the food. In addition to traditional Thai dishes, you can also enjoy some selected Chinese dishes.

  • Sasi Bar & Restaurant — a dining place where you will be entertained by traditional Thai dance and show while having your dinner. The food being served is a fixed three dish menu. Despite the fact that the food is not of the highest possible quality, given the price tag, the total experience as such is still great. Sasi Bar & Restaurant has a homepage that can be visited by clicking here.

  • Restaurant ”X” — with no name, this little restaurant under roof is located just at the corner of the traffic light intersection between Soi 56 and the Canal Road. It has become a favourite lunch restaurant during our years in Hua Hin. The reason is simple: for very small money it is possible to order delicious rice and noodle dishes. The best Bami Heng (noodles with sprouts, pork, peanuts and fresh coriander) in town is served here for 20 baht (60 US cents). The restaurant is not open during night time; it closes at 5 pm in the afternoon.
