The Thanarat golf course has been designed by —just listen to this! — the Royal Thai Army and was opened back in 1974. This 18-hole, par-72 course has been brought forward as a sensible budget alternative for mainly two reasons: its green fee is low compared to other courses, and its location is not far from some lovely beach areas.

The golf course offers good service and its staff is very helpful. Thanarat has, though, received some criticism due to somewhat sluggish greens as well as insufficient course maintenance. All the same, this course has become something of a favourite amongst Hua Hin’s golf-playing Scandinavians, who usually compete against each other every week.

The green fee is 400 baht weekdays, 800 baht weekends. A one-year membership can be bought for 8,000, lowering the green fee to as little as 70 baht.
