Wat Khao Takiab
Wat Khao Takiab is located some 10 minutes by car south of Hua Hin and provides a stunning view over the coast line. The mountain is home for a large number of monkeys that like to play around with the curious tourists. This is the reason why Khao Takiab is sometimes referred to as the “Monkey Mountain”. In connection to Wat Khao Takiab, the Mae Kwan Im statue can be seen. Getting to Khao Takiab (“Chopstick Mountain”) from Hua Hin by Tuk-Tuk is convenient and doesn’t cost much at all. You can also get there by local bus or by green-painted pickups (so-called Rot Song Thaew). It is also possible to walk in southern direction on the beach and finally arrive at Khao Takiab. However, this is a somewhat long, warm and time-consuming walk. In the area surrounding Khao Takiab, there are many high-class seafood restaurants that can be visited in case you get hungry. More about these can be read in our guide to Hua Hin’s restaurants.
