Statue of Pone Kingpetch
Pone Kingpetch, or Mana Seedokbuab that he was also called, was Thailand’s three-time flyweight world boxing champion. He was born in Hua Hin in 1935 and became Thailand’s first world boxing champion in 1960 as he fought for the title at the Lumpini Boxing Stadium in Bangkok. Many Hua Hin locals are proud of Pone Kingpetch being the great boxing icon of Hua Hin as well as all of Thailand. In 1982, Pone died at the age of 47. The statue of Pone Kingpetch has a central location on Damnoernkasem Road.
