This palace was completed on King Chulalongkorn’s (Rama V) initiative in 1916. The construction, however, started as early as 1909. The King built the palace with his own money intending to have it as a place to reside during the rainy season. The design was made by a German architect and, hence, the building has clear European characteristics. King Chulalongkorn was famous for his openness towards the European construction style. In 1918, Rachaniwet Palace was started being used as a venue for state visits. The palace is located in the Petchaburi province, not far from Cha-Am.
